Getting There

  • Public Transportation

    From Kyoto Station, take the JR Nara Line to Tofukuji Station. This will take approximately 5 minutes, and the fare is around 150 yen. Once at Tofukuji Station, transfer to the Keihan Main Line and take the train to Demachiyanagi Station, which takes about 15 minutes and costs approximately 270 yen. From Demachiyanagi Station, take bus number 204 or 93 towards Nanzenji/Eikando for about 10 minutes. Get off at the Nanzenji Eikando-michi bus stop, which is a short walk from Konchi-in.

    If you're driving from the center of Kyoto, head east on Sanjo-dori (Sanjo Street) and follow it until you reach the intersection with Higashioji-dori. Turn left onto Higashioji-dori and continue for about 3 kilometers. You will see signs for Nanzenji Temple. Follow the signs for Nanzenji and park in one of the nearby parking lots (parking fees are around 500-1000 yen per hour). From the parking area, it's a short walk to Konchi-in, located at 86-12 Nanzenji Fukuchicho, Sakyo Ward.
