Walking
If you are in the central Higashiyama area, head towards the nearest bus stop or subway station. If you are near the Kiyomizu-dera temple, walk north on Kiyomizu-zaka Street until you reach Gojo-zaka. From there, turn left and walk towards the Kyoto City Bus stop. Take the bus number 100 or 206 towards the Kyoto Imperial Palace. The bus fare is around 230 yen. Get off at the Okazaki Koen / Bijutsukan (Museum) stop. From the bus stop, walk about 7 minutes north along Okazaki Nishi Tenno-cho. You will see the entrance to Heian-jingū Shrine on your left.

Public Transport - Subway
If you prefer the subway, make your way to the nearest subway station, which is either Higashiyama Station or Sanjo Keihan Station. From Higashiyama Station, take the Tozai Line towards Uzumasa Tenjingawa and transfer at Karasuma Oike Station. Switch to the Karasuma Line and take the train towards Kokusaikaikan. Get off at the Higashiyama Station. From there, exit the station and head east towards Okazaki Nishi Tenno-cho. Walk north for about 10 minutes, and you’ll arrive at Heian-jingū Shrine. The total subway fare is approximately 280 yen.

Bicycle Rental
For a more leisurely experience, consider renting a bicycle. There are several rental shops around Higashiyama, such as Kyoto Eco Trip or Kyo Cycle. Rent a bike for around 1,000-2,000 yen for a day. Once you have your bike, head north on the main road towards Okazaki Nishi Tenno-cho. The ride will take around 10-15 minutes. Follow the signs to Heian-jingū Shrine, which will be clearly marked along the way.
