Getting There

  • Bus

    If you're starting from Kyoto Station, take the City Bus #100 or #206. Board the bus at the bus stop located just outside the station. The ride will take approximately 30 minutes. Get off at the 'Nanzenji Eikando-michi' bus stop. From there, walk south for about 5 minutes along the main road until you reach the entrance to Tenjuan, a beautiful Buddhist temple.

  • Subway and Walking

    From Kyoto Station, take the Karasuma Subway Line towards Kokusaikaikan and get off at 'Kitaoji Station' (about 15 minutes). Transfer to Bus #204 or #93 at Kitaoji Bus Terminal. Ride the bus for about 15 minutes and get off at 'Nanzenji Eikando-michi' bus stop. Walk south for 5 minutes to reach Tenjuan.

  • Walking

    If you're near the Gion district, you can walk to Tenjuan. Head northwest along Shijo-dori street towards the Philosopher's Path. Once you reach the path, follow it north until you reach the Nanzen-ji Temple area (approximately 30 minutes). Once in the area, Tenjuan will be nearby, just look for signs pointing to the temple.
