Walking
If you are in the central area of Higashiyama, head towards Kiyomizu-dera by taking Sanneizaka Street or Ninenzaka Street, which are famous for their traditional wooden buildings and shops. Follow the signs towards Kiyomizu-dera. The walk will take approximately 15-20 minutes depending on your starting point. As you approach, you will see the Kiyomizu-dera temple complex on your left. The Niomon Gate is the first gate you will encounter upon entering the temple grounds.

You can take a Kyoto City Bus (Bus #100 or #206) from various locations in Higashiyama. Look for the bus stop labeled 'Kiyomizu-michi' or 'Kiyomizu-dera'. The bus ride will take around 10-15 minutes. Once you get off, it will be a short 10-minute walk uphill to the Niomon Gate. Follow the signs for Kiyomizu-dera, which will lead you directly there.
