Getting There

  • Walking

    From Nara Park, head east towards the East Nara Park entrance. Continue walking along the main path, enjoying the sights of the deer. After about 15 minutes, you will reach the intersection with Takabatakecho street. Turn left onto Takabatakecho street and continue for about 10 minutes. Sagiike pond will be on your right, just past the Nara National Museum.

    From Nara Station, take bus number 97 or 100 towards Hannyakujin. Get off at the 'Nara National Museum' stop, which takes about 10 minutes. Once you get off the bus, walk east along Takabatakecho street for about 5 minutes. Sagiike pond will be on your right-hand side.

  • Cycling

    If you have access to a rental bicycle, start from Nara Park and cycle along the roads towards the East Nara Park entrance. Follow the same route as walking; continue along the main path, then take a left onto Takabatakecho street. Sagiike pond is about a 20-minute bike ride from Nara Park.
