Getting There

  • Walking

    If you are starting from Nara Station, exit the station and head south towards the main road (Route 169). Once you reach the main road, turn left and walk straight for about 10 minutes until you reach the entrance of Nara Park. Enter the park and follow the signs towards Todai-ji Temple. Walk past the Nara deer and continue straight for about 15 minutes. After passing the Great Buddha Hall (Daibutsuden), you will see Todaiji Honbo (Abbot's Quarters) on your right, located at 406-1 Zoshicho.

  • Bus

    From Nara Station, take the Nara City Loop Bus (green line) and get off at the Todai-ji Daibutsuden (Great Buddha Hall) stop. The journey takes about 15 minutes. Upon exiting the bus, walk towards the Great Buddha Hall. After visiting the hall, head to the right side of the complex. You will find Todaiji Honbo (Abbot's Quarters) at 406-1 Zoshicho, just a short walk from the Great Buddha Hall.

  • Bicycle

    If you prefer cycling, rent a bicycle at one of the rental shops near Nara Station. From there, head south towards Nara Park. Follow the pathways through the park, enjoying the scenery and the deer along the way. After about 20 minutes of cycling, you will reach the Great Buddha Hall (Daibutsuden). Continue past the hall, and you will find Todaiji Honbo (Abbot's Quarters) located at 406-1 Zoshicho on your right.
