Getting There

  • Car

    From central Settsu, head east on Route 1 (国道1号線) towards Osaka. Continue for about 10 kilometers until you reach the junction with Route 171 (国道171号線). Merge onto Route 171 and follow the signs for Kyoto. After approximately 12 kilometers, take the exit toward Kyoto and merge onto Route 1 again. Continue onto the Keiji Bypass (京滋バイパス) heading to Kyoto. Exit at the Kamigyo Ward exit and follow signs for Kushigecho. Tokanji will be on your right at 721 Kushigecho, Kamigyo Ward.

  • Public Transportation

    From Settsu, take the Hankyu Takarazuka Line from Settsu-Tonda Station to Kawaramachi Station. This journey will take about 30 minutes. At Kawaramachi Station, transfer to the Kyoto City Bus 205 towards Kyoto Station. Get off at the 'Kushigecho' bus stop, which is the closest stop to Tokanji. From the bus stop, walk approximately 5 minutes east along the road, and Tokanji will be located at 721 Kushigecho, Kamigyo Ward.

    For a more direct route, you can take a taxi from your location in Settsu directly to Tokanji. The taxi ride will take approximately 30-40 minutes depending on traffic conditions. Be prepared for a fare of around ¥5,000 to ¥7,000 depending on the exact starting point and traffic.
