Getting There

• Car

  From the center of Shinano, head south on Route 18. Continue for about 10 kilometers until you reach the junction with Route 292. Turn left onto Route 292 and continue for approximately 15 kilometers. Look for signs indicating 'Jigokudani Funsen Fountain' and 'Yamanouchi.' As you near Yamanouchi, follow the signs to 'Jigokudani' which will lead you to Hirao. The fountain is located at 6818 Hirao, Yamanochi, Shimotakai District, Nagano 381-0401. There is parking available nearby.

  Start at the nearest train station in Shinano, which is the Matsushiro Station. Take the Nagano Electric Railway to Yamanouchi Station. The journey takes about 30 minutes. Once you arrive at Yamanouchi Station, exit and take a local bus towards Jigokudani. The bus ride will take approximately 20 minutes. Get off at the 'Jigokudani' stop, and from there, it’s a short walk to the Jigokudani Funsen Fountain. Make sure to check the bus schedule in advance as the frequency may vary.
