From the center of Carlsbad, walk to the nearest bus stop on N Canal St. Board the Route 2 bus heading towards the La Jolla area. Stay on the bus for approximately 30 minutes and get off at the stop closest to La Jolla Village Dr & Torrey Pines Rd. From there, transfer to the Route 101 bus heading towards La Jolla. Get off at the Expedition Way stop. The Birch Aquarium will be a short walk from the bus stop, located at 2300 Expedition Way.

If you are closer to the La Jolla Cove area, you can walk to the Birch Aquarium. Start at the La Jolla Cove, head southwest on Coast Blvd towards Girard Ave. Turn left onto Girard Ave and continue until you reach Torrey Pines Rd. From there, turn right and walk along Torrey Pines Rd until you reach Expedition Way. The aquarium will be on your left at 2300 Expedition Way.
