Windansea Park: A Coastal Paradise in La Jolla

Getting There

• Walking

  If you're starting from the Carlsbad Caverns Visitor Center, walk south on NM-7 toward the intersection with US-62. Continue walking for about 0.5 miles until you reach the intersection. Turn left onto US-62 and continue walking for approximately 1 mile. You will then reach the Carlsbad town square. From there, head west on W Fox St for about 0.3 miles until you reach the intersection with S Canal St. Turn right on S Canal St and continue walking for another 0.2 miles until you hit the intersection with W Main St. Turn left on W Main St and walk 0.5 miles to the bus station.

• Public Bus

  From the Carlsbad town square, walk to the Carlsbad Bus Station located at 101 S Canal St. Check the local bus schedule for routes heading toward La Jolla or nearby areas. You will need to take a bus that connects to a larger transit line heading towards San Diego. Once you arrive in San Diego, transfer to the public transport system (such as the MTS) and take the bus line that heads to La Jolla. Follow the bus route until you reach the stop closest to Windansea Park at 6600 Neptune Pl.

• Biking

  For those who prefer biking, you can rent a bicycle from local rental shops in Carlsbad. Start from the Carlsbad Caverns Visitor Center and head south via NM-7 for about 1 mile until you reach US-62. Turn left onto US-62 and continue biking for approximately 1 mile. Then, turn right onto W Main St and follow it for about 3 miles until you reach the state park area. From there, you can navigate through local paths leading to La Jolla. Ensure to follow bike lanes and local traffic rules.
