Getting There

Car
If you are driving, head towards Caraz, which is approximately 30 km away from Huaraz. Follow the signs for Caraz on the PE-3N highway. Once you reach Caraz, take the road towards the town of Yungay. After Yungay, follow the directions to the Pitec hiking area. You will need to drive for about 12 km along a rough road until you reach the parking area at the base of the Pitec trailhead. Make sure to have a suitable vehicle for this journey as the road can be challenging in places.

Public Transportation
To reach Pitec using public transportation, take a bus from Huaraz to Caraz. Buses leave regularly from the main terminal in Huaraz and the journey takes about 1 hour. Once you arrive in Caraz, you will need to take a taxi or a moto-taxi to reach Yungay. From Yungay, you can hire a local taxi or a tour service that can take you to the Pitec trailhead. The taxi ride from Yungay to Pitec will cost approximately 30-50 soles, depending on the negotiation.

If you are already in the vicinity of Pitec, you can access the trails directly from the parking area. Be prepared for a moderate hike as you will be traversing mountainous terrain. Make sure to wear appropriate hiking gear and bring enough water and snacks for your hike.
