Getting There

  • Walking

    From the main entrance of Machu Picchu, head towards the main archaeological area. Once inside, follow the signs leading to the Inca Trail. Walk along the path for about 15 minutes until you reach the area where the Inca Trail forks. Here, you will find a sign indicating the direction to the Mariposario of Machu Picchu. Take the right path and continue walking for another 10 minutes. You will start to see signs for the Mariposario. Follow these signs until you arrive at the butterfly house, which is located on Avenida Hermanos Ayar.

    If you are near the Machu Picchu Museum, exit the museum and head towards the main entrance of Machu Picchu. Once you reach the entrance, follow the previous directions towards the archaeological area. After about 15 minutes, look for the Inca Trail fork and take the right path, which will lead you directly to the Mariposario. Continue following the signs for another 10 minutes and you will arrive at your destination.
