Getting There

  • Walking

    Start from the main entrance of Machu Picchu. Head towards the Inca Trail entrance, which is located directly in front of you as you exit the visitor center. Follow the path leading down from the entrance. After approximately 10 minutes of walking down the trail, you will come to a fork in the path; take the left path, which leads towards the Avenida Hermanos Ayar. Continue walking for another 5 minutes until you reach the base of the hill where Mariposario is located. The entrance is marked with a sign, and you will see a small garden area with butterflies. The total walking distance is about 1 kilometer and should take around 15-20 minutes.
