From the Scottish Highlands, take the A9 road heading south towards Edinburgh. After approximately 2 hours of driving, take the exit towards the A720, which is the Edinburgh Bypass. Continue on the A720 for about 10 miles until you reach the A1 exit towards Edinburgh City Centre. Follow the signs for the city centre and merge onto the A1. After approximately 2 miles, turn right onto the A7 (South Bridge) and continue for another mile. Turn left onto Canongate where the Palace of Holyroodhouse is located. There is parking available near the palace, but be prepared to pay a fee for parking.

If you prefer to travel by train, head to your nearest train station in the Highlands and catch a train to Edinburgh Waverley Station. This journey may take approximately 3 to 4 hours depending on your starting point. Once you arrive at Waverley Station, exit the station and head towards Waverley Bridge.
