Driving
From Bourg-Madame, take the N116 towards Sallagosa until you find the detour to the old Puigmal ski resort. Follow this paved road for 11 km to the last car park. This is a common starting point for hiking trails to the summit. Parking is free. Be aware that the road can be narrow and may be closed from 10 PM to 6 AM.

Public Transport
From Barcelona, take the train to Ribes de Freser. From there, the Cremallera de Núria rack railway will take you to Vall de Núria, a popular base for hiking Puigmal. A return ticket on the Cremallera costs approximately €22-€25. From Vall de Núria, several trails lead to the summit. Be sure to check the Cremallera timetable for the last train back.

Hiking
From Vall de Núria, follow the well-marked trail towards Puigmal. The ascent is challenging but not technically difficult. The route follows the Torrent de la Coma de l'Embut river valley, with a steep climb to the summit. Allow 5-7 hours for the round trip. Alternatively, a longer route returns via the Serra del Burrut ridgeline and Collada de Fontalba. This route requires more endurance and takes 6-8 hours.
