Car
If you are traveling by car from the Zemplen Mountains, start by heading west on Route 27 towards the town of Sárospatak. Follow signs for Route 3 northbound. Continue on Route 3 until you reach the town of Eger, then merge onto Route 25. Follow Route 25 until it merges with Route 18. After approximately 30 km, take the exit towards Poprad, Slovakia. Continue on the E50 road, which will take you directly to High Tatras. Once you reach the area, follow signs for Vysoké Tatry. The drive should take about 2 to 3 hours depending on traffic and road conditions.
Public Transportation
For those using public transportation, take a bus from any major town in the Zemplen Mountains to the nearest larger city, such as Miskolc. From Miskolc, take a train to Poprad-Tatry station in Slovakia. Once you arrive at Poprad-Tatry, you can catch a local bus or taxi to Vysoké Tatry, which is the town at the base of the High Tatras. Be sure to check the schedules in advance as they may vary, and tickets can be purchased at the station or via local transportation apps.
Taxi or Ride-sharing Service
If you prefer a more direct route, consider using a taxi or a ride-sharing service like Uber if available. From any location within the Zemplen Mountains, simply request a ride to Vysoké Tatry. This method is more convenient but can be costly, typically ranging from €50 to €100 depending on your starting point and traffic conditions. It is advisable to agree on a fare before starting your journey.
Use High Tatras as your starting point for nearby food, family ideas, nightlife, and more local discoveries.
