Experience Kiyomizudera Zuigudo

Getting There

  • Bus

    If you are starting from Kyoto Station, take the City Bus number 100 or 206. Board the bus at the bus terminal outside the station. The journey takes about 20 minutes. Get off at Kiyomizu-michi bus stop, which is the closest stop to Kiyomizudera. From there, follow the signs towards Kiyomizudera, and you will walk uphill for about 10-15 minutes until you reach the entrance.

  • Subway and Walking

    From Kyoto Station, take the Karasuma Line to Shijo Station (2 stops). At Shijo Station, transfer to the Keihan Line and take the train to Kiyomizu-Gojo Station. From Kiyomizu-Gojo Station, exit the station and walk east towards Kiyomizu-dera. The walk will take approximately 20 minutes along the main road, where you will encounter several shops and cafes along the way.

  • Taxi

    If you prefer a more direct route, you can take a taxi from anywhere in Kyoto. Simply tell the driver you want to go to Kiyomizudera Zuigudo located at 1 Chome-294 Kiyomizu, Higashiyama Ward. The taxi ride will take about 10-15 minutes depending on traffic.

  • Walking

    If you are already in the Higashiyama area, you can walk to Kiyomizudera Zuigudo. Follow the signs for Kiyomizudera from wherever you are in the neighborhood. The temple is located on a hill, so be prepared for a bit of an uphill walk which may take about 15-30 minutes depending on your starting point.
