Getting There

  • Car

    If you are traveling by car, Takachiho Shrine is located at 1037 Mitai, Takachiho, Nishiusuki District, Miyazaki 882-1101. From Fukuoka, take the Kyushu Expressway towards Kumamoto and then follow Route 57 towards Takachiho. The journey takes approximately 2.5 to 3 hours. Once you arrive in Takachiho, follow signs for Takachiho Shrine; there is parking available nearby, but it may cost around 500 yen for the day.

  • Public Transportation

    To reach Takachiho Shrine using public transportation, take a train from Fukuoka to Kumamoto Station (approximately 1 hour). From Kumamoto Station, board a bus to Takachiho (the bus ride takes about 2 hours). Once you arrive at Takachiho Bus Station, the shrine is about a 20-minute walk. Follow the signs to Takachiho Shrine, or consider taking a taxi for about 1,000 yen for convenience.
