    If you are traveling by car from the center of Shinano, head towards Route 18. Take Route 18 north and merge onto Route 147 towards Hakuba. Continue on Route 147 for approximately 30 kilometers (about 40 minutes). Follow the signs for Hokujo, and once you arrive in Hokujo, look for the signs directing you to Shiratake. There is parking available near the base of the mountain for a small fee (about 500 yen).
