Getting There

  • Hiking from Many Glacier

    If you are starting from the Many Glacier area, begin your hike on the Grinnell Glacier Trail. Follow the trail until you reach the junction with the Swiftcurrent Pass Trail. Continue straight on the Grinnell Glacier Trail, heading towards Lake Josephine. Once you reach Lake Josephine, enjoy the views before continuing on towards the Sun Point Nature Trail. Keep an eye out for the trail signs, and after about 3 miles of hiking along the scenic route, you will arrive at the Sun Point Nature Trailhead.

  • Hiking from St. Mary Visitor Center

    From the St. Mary Visitor Center, start by following the paths leading towards the St. Mary Falls Trailhead. Hike along the St. Mary Falls Trail for approximately 0.8 miles until you reach the falls. After enjoying the view, continue on the trail towards Virginia Falls for another 0.5 miles. Once you return back to the St. Mary Falls Trailhead, look for the signs directing you to the Sun Point Nature Trail. Follow the trail indicated, which is approximately 2 miles from the St. Mary area, leading you to the Sun Point Nature Trailhead.

  • Hiking from Apgar Village

    If you are in Apgar Village, begin your hike on the Apgar Lookout Trail. Follow the trail as it winds through the forest. After approximately 2.5 miles, you will reach a viewpoint overlooking Lake McDonald. From here, head back down to the main trail and continue towards the west along the shoreline until you arrive at the junction for the Sun Point Nature Trail. This segment is approximately 4 miles in total from the Apgar area, so be prepared for a longer hike.
