Continue straight on the Swiftcurrent Pass Trail for another mile, where you will encounter a beautiful view of the surrounding peaks. Keep following the trail until you reach the summit of Swiftcurrent Pass, which is approximately 3 miles from the campground. From there, you will be able to see Sexton Glacier in the distance. To reach the glacier, descend slightly from the pass and follow the trail that leads towards the glacier. It’s about another mile down a rocky path, so be cautious of your footing.

  • Hiking

If you are starting from the Grinnell Glacier Trailhead, head along the Grinnell Glacier Trail, which is well-marked. Hike for approximately 4 miles until you arrive at the Grinnell Glacier overlook. While this trail does not go directly to Sexton Glacier, you can access the area by continuing to navigate around the edge of Grinnell Lake. From here, look for the less defined paths that lead towards the back of the lake, where you can find a way up towards Sexton Glacier. This option requires some navigation skills and may involve off-trail hiking.

  • Hiking

Another approach is from the trailhead at Iceberg Lake. Begin your hike on the Iceberg Lake Trail and follow it for about 2 miles until you reach the lake. From Iceberg Lake, head south towards the ridge that overlooks Sexton Glacier. This requires some off-trail navigation and climbing over rocky terrain, so ensure you are equipped for a more challenging hike. The glacier should be visible from the ridge, and you can descend towards it from there.
