Getting There

  • Hiking from Apgar Visitor Center

    Start your journey at the Apgar Visitor Center, located at the west entrance of Glacier National Park. From the visitor center, take the Trail of the Cedars, which is a short, accessible loop trail. After completing the loop, continue on the Avalanche Lake Trail. Follow the trail for approximately 4 miles until you reach Avalanche Lake. At this point, you will need to follow the trail signs to the Highline Trail. This will take you up and around the lake on the trail. Continue for about 2 miles until you reach the junction for the Logan Creek Trail. Turn onto Logan Creek Trail and follow it for approximately 3 miles. The trail will lead you directly to Logan Creek Patrol Cabin. Make sure to bring a map, plenty of water, and snacks for your hike.

  • Backpacking from Many Glacier Area

    If you are starting from the Many Glacier area, begin your trek at the Many Glacier Hotel. Follow the Grinnell Glacier Trail for about 6 miles until you reach the Grinnell Lake junction. Take the left trail toward Grinnell Lake, and after enjoying the view, backtrack to the junction. Continue on the Swiftcurrent Pass Trail for approximately 3 miles until you reach the Swiftcurrent Pass. From here, connect to the trail that leads you towards the Logan Creek area. This may involve some off-trail navigation, so be prepared with a GPS or a good physical map. The last leg will involve about 2-3 miles of descending towards the Logan Creek Patrol Cabin. Ensure you have proper gear for an overnight stay if necessary.
