Getting There

  • Hiking

    From the Apgar Visitor Center, head northeast on the Going-to-the-Sun Road for approximately 1.5 miles. You will reach the trailhead for the Avalanche Lake Trail. Take this trail, which is well-marked and maintained. Hike along the trail for about 2 miles until you reach the junction for the Avalanche Lake and Trail of the Cedars. Turn left onto the Trail of the Cedars, following the signs. Continue for another 1 mile until you reach Avalanche Lake. From here, follow the shoreline clockwise until you spot the Triple Arches on the cliffs across the lake.

  • Hiking

    If you are starting from the Lake McDonald Lodge, take the trail towards the West Shore of Lake McDonald. Follow the path along the lake for about 2 miles until you reach the junction for the Avalanche Lake Trail. From this junction, follow the Avalanche Lake Trail for another 2 miles until you arrive at Avalanche Lake. Look for the Triple Arches on the cliffs across the lake.

    From the Logan Pass Visitor Center, take the Highline Trail. Hike approximately 6.5 miles along the scenic trail until you reach the Many Glacier area. From there, take the Grinnell Glacier Trail for about 3 miles until you reach the overlook for Grinnell Lake. Look towards the cliffs, and you should see the Triple Arches in the distance. Note: This route is longer and more strenuous, suitable for experienced hikers.
