Getting There

Hiking
Start your journey at the St. Mary Visitor Center, located on the east side of Glacier National Park. From the visitor center, head west on the St. Mary Lake trail. Follow the signs that direct you along the path that runs parallel to the northern shore of St. Mary Lake. After approximately 2 miles, you will reach a viewpoint that overlooks Wild Goose Island. This is the Wild Goose Island Lookout. Be sure to take your time as the trail can be steep and rocky in places.

If you're at the Apgar Visitor Center, board the park shuttle that travels to the St. Mary area. Once you arrive at the St. Mary area, disembark at the Wild Goose Island Lookout stop.
