Getting There

  • Walking

    If you are near Thamel, a popular tourist area in Kathmandu, head south on Tridevi Marg until you reach the intersection with the busy New Road (Pradarshani Marg). Cross the road carefully and continue straight onto Bhaktapur Durbar Square Road. Follow this road until you reach the Basantapur area. Look for the large square, where you will find the entrance to Kumari Ghar on Layaku Marg, which is marked with signs. It is about a 15-20 minute walk from Thamel.

    From Swayambhunath (Monkey Temple), exit the site and walk down the hill towards the main road. Catch a local bus or walk to Basantapur. If you choose to walk, head down to the main road and follow it east until you reach the junction with Bhaktapur Durbar Square Road. Turn left and continue until you reach the area around Kumari Ghar, which is on Layaku Marg. The total walk will take approximately 30-40 minutes.
