Getting There

Walking
From the center of New Town, head southwest towards St. Andrew Square. Walk towards the west on George Street until you reach the junction at Frederick Street. Turn left onto Frederick Street and continue until you reach the top of the hill. Follow the road as it curves right onto the Mound, which will lead you directly towards the Royal Palace. The palace is located on Castlehill, just a short walk from the Mound. You will see the castle ahead.

If you prefer to take public transport, walk to the nearest bus stop on George Street. Look for buses that head towards the Old Town area; routes 23, 27, or 41 are recommended. Board the bus and request a stop at the 'High Street' or 'Royal Mile' stop. From there, it’s a short 5-minute walk uphill towards Castlehill where the Royal Palace is located. A single bus fare is around £1.70.
