SAP Center at San Jose, a landmark in the heart of the city, has been a hub for sports and entertainment since its opening on September 7, 1993. Home to the San Jose Sharks of the National Hockey League (NHL), it's affectionately known as the 'Shark Tank'. The arena also hosts the Bay Area Panthers of the Indoor Football League.
Throughout the year, SAP Center presents a diverse lineup of events, including concerts by major artists, family shows, and other sporting events. It has a seating capacity of 17,435 for hockey games and up to 18,500 for concerts and basketball games. The arena has undergone several name changes throughout its history, originally opening as the San Jose Arena. It was later known as the Compaq Center and HP Pavilion before SAP acquired the naming rights in 2013.
