Getting There

• Car

  If you're traveling by car, start by heading to the nearest expressway entrance. If you're in Izu, take the Izu Skyline to reach the Hakone area. Follow the signs for Route 1 and then take Route 732 towards Hakone. Once you approach Hakone, follow the signs for Lake Ashinoko. The lake is approximately a 30-minute drive from the Hakone area, and there is parking available at various locations around the lake. Note that there might be parking fees depending on your chosen lot.

• Public Transportation (Train and Bus)

  For those using public transportation, you can start at Izukogen Station or Atami Station. From Izukogen Station, take the Izukogen Line to Odawara Station. From Odawara Station, transfer to the Hakone Tozan Railway and ride to Hakone Yumoto Station. At Hakone Yumoto Station, catch a bus heading to Motohakone, which will take you directly to Lake Ashinoko. The bus ride takes around 30 minutes, and the fare is approximately 1,000 yen. Make sure to check the bus schedules in advance as they may vary throughout the day.

• Public Transportation (Direct Bus)

  An alternative public transport option is to take a direct bus from Shinjuku Station in Tokyo to Lake Ashinoko. The bus service is operated by Odakyu and takes approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes. You will arrive at the Motohakone bus stop, which is very close to Lake Ashinoko. The one-way ticket costs around 2,500 yen. Be sure to check the bus schedules ahead of time to ensure availability.
