Getting There

  • Train

    From Kyoto Station, take the JR Biwako Line (also known as the JR Kosei Line) towards Otsu. The train ride takes about 30 minutes. Get off at Otsu Station. Once you arrive at Otsu Station, exit the station and walk towards the west exit. From the west exit, head towards the bus terminal.

  • Bus

    At Otsu Station, take the Keihan Bus bound for 'Miidera'. The bus ride will take approximately 15 minutes. Get off at the 'Miidera' stop. After getting off, walk straight for about 5 minutes following the signs to Miidera Temple. Lake Biwa Canal will be just a short walk from the temple.

    From Miidera Temple, head south towards the canal. You should see signs directing you to the Lake Biwa Canal. The walk is about 10 minutes and offers beautiful views of the area.
