Getting There

  • Public Transportation

    If you are starting from Kyoto Station, take the Karasuma Subway Line (green line) towards Kokusaikaikan. After 4 stops, get off at Shijo Station. From Shijo Station, take Exit 1 and walk straight on Shijo Street until you reach the intersection with Hanamikoji Street. Turn right onto Hanamikoji Street. Continue walking straight for about 10 minutes until you reach Gion. South Tower Gate is located at 509 Gionmachi Minamigawa, Higashiyama Ward.

    If you are near Yasaka Shrine, head south towards the main street. Exit the shrine grounds and walk towards the main road, which is called Shijo Avenue. Turn left and follow the avenue until you reach the intersection with Gionmachi Street. Turn right onto Gionmachi Street, and South Tower Gate will be on your left side after a short walk.

    From Kyoto Station, you can also take a bus. Board Bus 100 or 206 towards Gion. Get off at the Gion bus stop.
