Public Transport
From Kyoto Station, take the Kyoto City Bus 100 or 206. Both buses will take you towards Kiyomizu-dera. Get off at the 'Kiyomizu-dera' bus stop. The journey takes about 20-30 minutes, depending on traffic. After getting off the bus, follow the signs to Kiyomizu-dera, which is about a 10-minute walk uphill. You'll pass through a charming street lined with shops and tea houses.
Walking
If you are starting from Gion, you can walk to Kiyomizu-dera. Head east on Shijo Avenue until you reach the Kamo River. Cross the river at the Shijo Ohashi Bridge and continue straight. After about a 15-20 minute walk, you will reach Kiyomizu-dera. The entrance will be on your left, and you will see signs directing you to the Otowanotaki Falls once inside the temple grounds.
Taxi
For a more direct route, you can take a taxi from your location in Kyoto to Kiyomizu-dera. Simply tell the driver 'Kiyomizu-dera' (清水寺) and they will take you there. The ride should take about 10-15 minutes depending on traffic. Once you arrive, follow the signs to the Otowanotaki Falls within the temple grounds.
