Walking
From the center of Ruhengeri, start at the Ruhengeri Bus Station. Head southeast on Avenue de la Révolution and continue straight for about 1 kilometer. You will pass by local shops and cafes. After reaching the intersection with Rue de l'Indépendance, turn left and continue walking for another 500 meters until you reach the main road (Road 2).

Bicycle
If you have access to a bicycle, you can rent one in Ruhengeri. Start from the center of town and take Avenue de la Révolution heading southeast. After 1 kilometer, turn left onto Rue de l'Indépendance and cycle for 500 meters until you hit the main road (Road 2). From here, continue straight for approximately 6 kilometers. Look for signs indicating Lake Burera.

Motorbike Taxi (Motos)
In Ruhengeri, you can easily find motorbike taxis (known as motos). Approach any nearby moto driver and tell them you want to go to Lake Burera. They will take you via Road 2, which is the most direct route. The journey will take about 20-30 minutes depending on traffic. Make sure to confirm the price before starting your ride.

Public Transport
From the Ruhengeri Bus Station, look for a 'mutatu' (shared taxi) heading towards Musanze. Get on the mutatu and inform the driver that you want to get off at the junction for Lake Burera, which is approximately 10 kilometers from the bus station. Once you arrive at the junction, you may need to walk for about 1 kilometer to reach the lake.
