The walk from the station to the forest takes approximately 15-20 minutes.

If you are further away, consider using local buses. From the center of Arashiyama, take the Kyoto City Bus number 28 or 11. Board the bus at the Arashiyama bus stop and get off at either 'Arashiyama Koen' or 'Togetsukyo' stops (each stop is about a 5-10 minute walk to the Bamboo Forest). The bus fare is approximately 230 yen, and buses run frequently throughout the day.
