Experience Saikyo-ji Temple

Getting There

  • Public Transport

    Start at Kyoto Station. Take the JR Biwako Line (also known as the JR Kosei Line) towards Otsu. The journey takes approximately 30 minutes. Get off at Sakamoto Station. From Sakamoto Station, exit the station and turn left to head toward the lake. Walk along the lakeside road for about 15 minutes until you reach Saikyo-ji Temple, which will be on your left.

  • Public Transport

    If you are near the Gion area, take the Keihan Line from Gion-Shijo Station to Hamaotsu Station. This takes about 40 minutes. Once at Hamaotsu Station, walk straight towards Lake Biwa for about 10 minutes until you reach the lakeside road. Turn right and continue walking for approximately 20 minutes until you arrive at Saikyo-ji Temple.

  • Walking

    If you are already in the Sakamoto area, you can reach Saikyo-ji Temple by walking. From Sakamoto Station, head south on Sakamoto Street, which leads you directly to the temple. The walk takes around 10 minutes.
