If you are already in the Gion district, Shirakawa Lane is easily accessible on foot. Head towards the Shirakawa Canal, which runs parallel to Shijo Street. The lane is a short walk from the main Gion area, approximately 5-10 minutes from Yasaka Shrine. Enjoy the traditional architecture as you approach the canal.

Public Transport
From Kyoto Station, take the Karasuma Subway Line to Shijo Station. Transfer to the Hankyu Kyoto Line and get off at Kawaramachi Station. From Kawaramachi Station, it's about a 15-minute walk to Shirakawa Lane. Exit the station and head east on Shijo Street until you reach the Shirakawa Canal, then follow the canal north to Shirakawa Lane. The subway fare is between ¥220-360. The bus fare is ¥230 for adults. A one-day subway and bus pass is available for ¥1,100.

Taxis are readily available throughout Kyoto. The starting fare is approximately ¥490 for the first 1.5km, with additional charges of ¥320 per kilometer. A taxi ride from Kyoto Station to Shirakawa Lane will cost approximately ¥2,090. Taxis can be flagged down on the street or found at taxi ranks outside major stations.
