Getting There

Walking
If you are starting from Nara Station, exit the station and head north on Sanjo Street (Sanjo-dori). Continue walking straight for about 1 kilometer until you reach the entrance of Nara Park. You will pass by various shops and restaurants along the way. Once you enter Nara Park, continue to walk straight, and you will see the iconic Todai-ji Temple. From there, continue walking toward the east side of the park. Follow the path that leads to the base of Mount Wakakusa. You will find signs directing you to the North Gate.

Bus
From Nara Station, take the Nara Kotsu bus from Bus Stop No. 1. Board a bus heading towards 'Wakakusa-yama' (Mount Wakakusa). The bus ride takes approximately 15 minutes. Get off at the 'Wakakusa-yama' bus stop. After alighting, you will see a sign directing you to the North Gate. Follow the path upwards for about 10 minutes, and you will arrive at the Mount Wakakusa base North Gate.

Biking
If you prefer biking, you can rent a bicycle from one of the rental shops near Nara Station. After renting your bike, head north on Sanjo Street (Sanjo-dori) towards Nara Park. Continue straight into the park and follow the signs towards Mount Wakakusa. The bike ride should take around 20 minutes. The path is fairly flat and easy to navigate. Once you reach the entrance of Mount Wakakusa, park your bike and walk towards the North Gate.
