Getting There

  • Walking

    If you are starting from Nara Park, head towards the Todai-ji Daibutsuden (Great Buddha Hall), which is a prominent landmark. From the Great Buddha Hall, walk towards the Nandaimon Gate, and then continue straight along the path until you reach the Hokkedo, also known as Sangatsudo (March Hall). It should take about 15 minutes on foot.

  • Public Transportation

    If you are near Nara Station, take the Kintetsu Nara Line to Kintetsu Nara Station. From the station, exit and walk towards the park entrance. Follow the signs to Todai-ji and continue walking straight to reach the Great Buddha Hall. The Sangatsudo will be on your left as you approach the main hall. The total journey will take around 30 minutes.

  • Walking from Nara City Center

    From the Nara City Center, head towards Sanjo Dori Street and walk straight until you reach the entrance of Nara Park. Continue walking through the park, following the path signs to Todai-ji. Upon reaching the Great Buddha Hall, you will find the Hokkedo nearby. This walk should take approximately 25 minutes.
