From Zao Onsen, head east on Route 286 for approximately 30 km. This scenic drive through the mountains will take you to Sendai. Once you reach Sendai, follow the signs for Aoba Castle. As you approach the city, take the ramp onto Route 4 toward Sendai. Continue on Route 4 and take the exit toward Kawauchi/Aoba Ward. Follow the signs to the Sendai Castle Honmaru Ruins.
