The entire hike from Many Glacier Campground to the overlook is approximately 5.5 miles one way and takes about 3-4 hours depending on your pace.

If you are starting from Swiftcurrent Motor Inn, which is nearby, begin by taking the trail that leads toward Many Glacier. Follow the path toward the Grinnell Glacier Trailhead. The trail is well maintained and marked. After about 1.2 miles, you will reach the Grinnell Glacier Trail. Turn left onto the Grinnell Glacier Trail and follow the directions outlined above to reach the Grinnell Glacier Overlook. The total distance from Swiftcurrent Motor Inn to the overlook is approximately 6.7 miles one way, and this hike will typically take 4-5 hours.

If you are near Lake Josephine, you can access the Grinnell Glacier Overlook by hiking from the lake. Start at the Lake Josephine Trailhead and follow the trail as it winds through the forest and alongside the lake. The trail will eventually lead you to the Grinnell Glacier Trail. After about 1.5 miles, you will reach the main trail. Follow the Grinnell Glacier Trail to the overlook as previously described.
