Car
If you are traveling by car from Huaraz, head southeast on Avenida Luzuriaga towards Calle 28 de Julio. Continue on this road for approximately 5.5 km until you reach the junction with the PE-3N highway. Take the ramp to join PE-3N towards Carhuaz. Continue on PE-3N for about 25 km until you reach the town of Carhuaz. Here, you can stop for supplies or food. After Carhuaz, take the road towards the town of Yungay, which is about 20 km away. Once in Yungay, follow the signs towards Nevado Caraz. The final stretch will take you on a dirt road; ensure your vehicle is suitable for rough terrain. The total driving distance is approximately 60 km and may take around 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on road conditions.

From Huaraz, you can take a bus to Carhuaz. Buses leave regularly from the main terminal and cost around 10-15 soles (approximately $3-4 USD). The journey takes about 30 minutes. Once you arrive in Carhuaz, you will need to take another bus or shared taxi to Yungay, which costs around 5 soles (about $1.50 USD) and takes an additional 20-30 minutes. From Yungay, there may be local tours or taxis available that can take you closer to Nevado Caraz, but be prepared for some negotiation on prices. Expect to pay around 50-100 soles for a shared taxi ride, depending on how many passengers are sharing the ride.
