La Seu Medieval, or the Cathedral of Santa Maria d'Urgell, stands as a magnificent example of Catalan Romanesque architecture in the heart of La Seu d'Urgell. Consecrated in the 12th century, it has been the seat of the Bishop of Urgell for over a thousand years and is the only Romanesque cathedral remaining in Catalonia. Walking
La Seu Medieval is located in the heart of La Seu d'Urgell's historic center, easily accessible on foot from most points in town. From the main bus station, walk north along Carrer de les Eres, then turn left onto Carrer Major. The cathedral will be on your right after a few blocks. The walk is approximately 10 minutes. Note that Carrer Major and surrounding streets have arcaded walkways, providing shelter from the elements.
Public Transport
La Seu d'Urgell is well-connected by bus to Barcelona, Lleida, and Andorra. From the bus station, follow the walking directions above to reach La Seu Medieval. Bus tickets from Barcelona to La Seu d'Urgell range from €37 to €38 and the journey takes approximately 2 hours and 45 minutes. Buses from Lleida to La Seu d'Urgell are approximately €22 and take around 2 hours.
Parking
If arriving by car, parking is available in La Seu d'Urgell, though it can be limited in the immediate vicinity of the cathedral. There is one reserved parking space for disabled parking permit holders at Carrer Major, 1. Several parking options are available within a short walk of the historic center. Expect to pay approximately €1-2 per hour for parking.
