Walking
If you're in downtown Newton, start at the Newton Public Library located at 100 N 3rd Ave E. Head east on E 1st St N until you reach N 3rd Ave E. Turn left and continue walking north on N 3rd Ave E. When you reach E 4th St N, turn right and head east until you reach the intersection with N 2nd Ave E. Turn left to continue north on N 2nd Ave E, and follow the road until you reach the Newton Arboretum. From there, head east to E 1st St N, then turn left. Continue straight and you will reach the intersection with 3rd Ave N. Finally, turn right and walk straight until you see the Castle Island on the right at 2010 William J Day Blvd. The entire walk is approximately 1.5 miles and should take you about 30 minutes.

From the Newton Public Library, head to the nearest bus stop located on N 3rd Ave E near E 1st St N. Take the bus route that heads towards Des Moines and disembark at the South Boston stop. From there, walk southbound on William J Day Blvd for about 10 minutes until you reach Castle Island at 2010 William J Day Blvd. Make sure to check local bus schedules for the exact routes and times as they may vary.
