From Trieste city center, head to the Trieste Bus Station (Stazione degli Autobus). You can take bus number 31 towards 'Sežana'. The ride takes about 50 minutes. Get off at the 'Štanjel' stop. From there, the Štanjel Castle is about a 15-minute walk uphill. Follow the signs for Štanjel Castle which will guide you through the charming village.

Take a train from Trieste Centrale station to the 'Opicina' train station. The train ride takes approximately 30 minutes. Once at Opicina, exit the station and catch bus number 31 to 'Štanjel'. After about 20 minutes, get off at the 'Štanjel' bus stop. The castle is a 15-minute walk from the bus stop, following the signs for Štanjel Castle.

For a more direct route, you can take a taxi or use a rideshare service from anywhere in Trieste. Simply ask the driver to take you to 'Štanjel Castle, Štanjel 1a'. The drive will take around 30 minutes depending on traffic. This is a convenient option if you prefer a hassle-free journey.
