Ax-les-Thermes: A Pyrenean Spa Town

Ax-les-Thermes, a picturesque town in the Ariège department of the French Pyrenees, has been a renowned spa destination for centuries. Situated at an altitude of 720 meters, the town is surrounded by lush forests and towering peaks, offering visitors a tranquil escape. In winter, the Ax 3 Domaines ski resort provides over 70 kilometers of pistes for skiers and snowboarders. During the summer, the surrounding mountains and valleys are ideal for hiking, mountain biking, and exploring scenic lakes and waterfalls. The Natural Reserve of the Orlu valley and the Grotte de Lombrives are highly recommended for nature enthusiasts. The town itself features a casino, theater, and numerous parks, providing ample leisure opportunities.
