Getting There

Walking
Start from the main square of Nova Gorica, Trg Edvarda Kardelja. Head east towards the bridge over the Soča River. Cross the bridge and continue straight until you reach the train station in Gorizia, Italy (Stazione di Gorizia). From here, take a train to Udine. The train ride takes approximately 20 minutes. Upon arriving at Udine train station, exit and head north on Viale Europa Unita until you reach Piazza della Libertà. From there, take Via Poscolle and continue straight until you reach the base of Udine Castle. Follow the signs uphill to the castle entrance.

Bus
From the main bus station in Nova Gorica, take a bus heading to Udine. Buses are available frequently throughout the day. The journey takes about 45-60 minutes depending on traffic. Upon arriving at the Udine bus station, exit and walk north on Viale Europa Unita. Continue straight until you reach Piazza della Libertà, then take Via Poscolle up to Udine Castle. Follow the signs to the entrance of the castle.

Bicycle
If you prefer to cycle, you can rent a bicycle from one of the local rental shops in Nova Gorica. Head towards the border crossing at Solkan and follow the bike path along the Soča River towards Gorizia. Once in Gorizia, navigate towards the train station and then head to Udine. There are bike paths available that will lead you to Udine Castle via Via Poscolle, which will take you directly up to the castle.
