Walking
From the center of Assomada, head southwest on Avenida da Liberdade. Continue straight until you reach the intersection with Rua da Liberdade. Turn left onto Rua da Liberdade and keep walking for about 15 minutes. You will pass by local shops and cafes, which makes for a pleasant stroll. After around 1 km, you will reach the main road, Estrada Nacional 1. Cross the road safely and continue straight on Rua da Liberdade for another 10 minutes. You will start seeing signs directing you towards Farol da Ponta Preta. Follow these signs as they lead you to the coastline. After approximately 30 minutes of walking, you will arrive at the lighthouse, enjoying stunning ocean views along the way.
Public Transport (Minibus)
From the main bus station in Assomada, take a minibus heading towards Tarrafal. The minibuses are frequent and the fare is economical. After about 20 minutes, ask the driver to let you off at the stop closest to Farol da Ponta Preta. Once you get off, follow the path leading down towards the coast, which will take about 10 minutes of walking. Look for signs that direct you to the lighthouse.
