Walking
From the Sistine Chapel, exit the chapel and head towards the Vatican Museums exit. Once outside, turn left and walk towards Via di Porta Angelica. Follow this road until you reach the intersection with Via dei Gracchi. Turn right onto Via dei Gracchi and continue straight until you reach Piazza San Pietro. At Piazza San Pietro, continue following the road straight, which becomes Via della Conciliazione. Cross over to the other side of the street and continue walking straight until you reach the Tiber River. From here, you can take the pedestrian bridge called Ponte Sant'Angelo. After crossing the bridge, head straight onto Via di Panico, which will take you to Via di Torre Argentina. Continue on this street until you reach Largo di Torre Argentina. At this junction, take a left onto Via di San Lorenzo in Lucina, which will lead you to Piazza di San Lorenzo in Lucina. Here, continue straight until you reach the intersection with Corso Vittorio Emanuele II. Turn right onto Corso Vittorio Emanuele II and walk until you reach Piazza Navona. From Piazza Navona, continue straight to Via di Santa Maria dell'Anima, which will lead you to Via di Montecuccoli. Turn left onto Via di Montecuccoli, and then right onto Via di Porta Maggiore. Follow this road, and you will arrive at your destination, Piazza di Porta Maggiore.
Public Transport (Bus)
From the Sistine Chapel, make your way back to the Vatican Museums exit. Once outside, walk to the nearest bus stop located at Via di Porta Angelica. Here, catch bus number 87 towards 'Viale dei Partigiani'. Stay on the bus for about 10 stops, which will take approximately 25 minutes. Get off at 'Porta Maggiore' station. From the bus stop, walk towards Piazza di Porta Maggiore, which is just a short distance away. The historical site will be directly in front of you.

Head to the nearest taxi stand located outside the Vatican Museums. Inform the driver you want to go to 'Piazza di Porta Maggiore'. The drive should take about 15-20 minutes depending on traffic. Once you've arrived, you'll find Piazza di Porta Maggiore is a prominent historical site, and you can easily explore the area on foot.
