Tucked into the heart of Aalborg’s old town, Aalborg Kloster is one of Denmark’s best-preserved medieval monasteries, founded in 1434 as a House of the Holy Ghost. Behind its red-brick walls and ivy-draped façades you find calm courtyards, cloister walks and a small church that still whisper of monastic life, charity and prayer. Today the building is used mainly for civil weddings, ceremonies and representative functions rather than daily administration.

Rising above Aalborg’s central square, Jens Bang’s Stonehouse is a flamboyant Dutch Renaissance mansion from 1624, long regarded as one of Denmark’s finest privately owned historic buildings. Today, the building still houses Aalborg’s historic Swan Pharmacy and shops at street level, while the upper floors remain private, leaving visitors to admire the exuberant façade and its quirky details from the bustling square below.
